Have you ever gone on a blind date that completely changed your life? I have
On May 30th, 2015, David and I both "swiped right," and the rest is history…
I am not going to lie and say it was happily ever after from the beginning, quite the contrary. When I met David, I was in the middle of a huge life shift. I had recently moved into my first apartment in an attempt to forge my way in this world outside of the protective safety blanket I found myself swaddled in. I was experiencing life by myself for the first time, and I didn't want any long-term commitments or distractions. David had just moved to Saint Louis from Arkansas and was not looking to get into a relationship because he was working on his escape plan from "the system," as he so eloquently calls it.
Fast forward a few short months, and we went from knowing absolutely nothing about each other to spending every moment we could together. Weeks turned into months and as time went on I eventually found myself completely moved into his apartment and our names next to each other on the payroll. During the hours of inevitable conversations and jokes, David and I discovered that we shared a goal of wanting to travel the world someday. So, in true David and Elle fashion, we dove right in and started working on the goal wholeheartedly. David invested in a better camera, and I upgraded from living with my nose in my iPhone to typing away on a laptop. We have spent countless hours typing up content, taking photos, and planning a year long trip through Canada, North America, Central America, and South America, which we will start in 2017!
So, there you have it. My life took a complete 180-degree turn for the better all because I swallowed my pride and met a guy off of a dating app. Our story is still being written, and I hope to fill this blog with incredible stories, photos, and advice to help others to live a life of pure, true happiness. As my father has been known to say, "Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life." This sentence has been a constant reminder that if you don't like the direction your life is going, you can always change your path. So break out of that comfort zone and do something to shake your life up a bit! Take a cooking class or book a solo trip to Ireland. You only get this one precious life. Don't waste it.
